Indoor courts are also available for those cold and wet wintry months so there’s no excuse not to grab your tennis racquet and take to the court. If you’ve never played tennis on an outdoor Astroturf surface then you have to play here and give it a try. Astroturf courts tend to slow down the ball more than hard courts, which most people are used to, so it’s definitely worth giving it a try if you love all things tennis. These courts are extremely easy to get to and the venue has free parking available to all players. If you’d prefer to travel by public transport then the nearest stop is the Dublin Bus Stop 2854 (Broadford Rd, Broadford Walk).
If it’s a good old-fashioned hard court you’re after then Sportslink is the place for you. Free parking is available on site making it extremely easy to get to for a spot of after work tennis. This venue is also easy to get to via the nearby Dublin Bus Stop 1627 (Swords Rd, Santry Retail Park).
This extremely impressive sports centre boasts some great tennis facilities featuring different surfaces, ensuring that there really is something for everyone. Situated on the doorstep of Dublin Airport, you’re practically a stone’s throw away from London anyway, and with these fantastic grass lawn tennis courts available to hire it’s you can feel just like you’re playing at Wimbledon. If grass courts aren’t your thing then there are also 8 hard courts to play on. All the courts at this venue are floodlit so be sure to take advantage of the late opening hours and play after work or after school. Travel links to ALSAA are excellent with Dublin Bus Stop 1631 (Swords Rd) being the closest stop for public transport. Free parking is also available if you’d prefer to drive.
Located in the seaside town of Portmarnock, this venue has Astroturf tennis courts available for hire. Why not play a game of tennis before you relax on the beach? These courts are also available to play on until late so be sure to have a match under the floodlights until as late as 11pm. The easiest way to get to these courts is via Dublin Bus Stop 6051 (Blackwood Lane, Sports & Leisure Club). Parking is also available if you’d prefer to drive.
If outdoor hard (macadam) tennis courts are your thing then look no further than Lucan Leisure Centre. There is no better place to play tennis in the summer, with the pitches overlooking beautiful grass playing fields. There is a real sporting atmosphere around the venue. Travelling by bus is the easiest way to get here with public transport. The 25A from Esker Manor stops right outside the venue. Free parking is also available.
