Hockey is a hugely popular sport in Brighton and there are plenty of top pitches on which to enjoy a game. It’s a sport which is very suited to a club environment given the format it takes at school and university. For those not wanting to join a club there are one-off game options too where you can play matches with friends or work colleagues. It’s usually played with 22 players, 11 on each side, but there are smaller format games to get involved in too. The pitch surface is either water-based or sand-based astroturf, although occasionally a venue might have installed a shale version. There are men’s, women’s and mixed teams for Brighton players to sign-up to and it is a very fun sport to play, whatever hockey experience you have.
To give you a helping hand and get you over the line in deciding which hockey facility to choose, we have picked our top choices for you.
