Five sporting events to look forward to this December

In the festive season, sport is the gift that keeps on giving. Under the December Christmas tree, there are many presents for viewers to unwrap, from the pulsating football schedule to the return of the NBA. Here at Playfinder, we have collated a list of some of the best sporting events for the remainder of 2020.


The Return of the NBA – December 22nd


After the immense 2019-20 season, the NBA is back. 2020-21 promises to be another wonderful and wholly unique experience. With the new season starting as it finished, without spectators, competition is at the foreground. Yet, the narratives around the competition remain compelling. Will the Lakers retain their crown? How will the Clippers respond to their playoff capitulation?


Scottish Cup Final – December 20th


A final is always special. The chance to place your hands around a trophy, write your name in history and bask in the glory of victory, often brings out the best in players. Celtic face-off against Hearts, coming into the fixture in poor form while Hearts, are stinging from a shock relegation just a season prior.


PDC William Hill Darts World Championship – December 15th to January 3rd

Manchester United vs Leeds United, Arsenal vs Everton WSL – December 20th


A long awaited fixture and a major clash in the WSL; Manchester United and Leeds have notoriously been rivals for many years, but it has been a long time since the two have competed in the top division.

Both sides are competing at different parts of the league, in contrast to Arsenal and Everton in the WSL. Arsenal are 4 points off the top of the table and Everton, are just 5 points from their opponents. December 20th looks like a great day in the footballing calendar.


Horse racing: Boxing Day at Kempton: King George VI Steeple Chase – December 26th


After Christmas day, the horse racing is on to entertain. The historic King George VI Steeple Chase promises to deliver a great Boxing day of racing.
