The indoor sports hall also caters for netball, basketball and badminton. UEL Sports Dock has pay and display parking, changing rooms and floodlights to enable matches to be played all year around. Gallions Reach, on the DLR, is the nearest station for anyone arriving by public transport. UEL Sports Dock is open from 8am to 10pm on weekdays and then 9.30am to 7.30pm on weekends.
Cumberland School is available for booking football, cricket, gym sessions. Netball and basketball are also on offer here. The sports facility can be found slightly north of Prince Regent Lane Playing Fields and just west of Newham Centre for Mental Health. If you’re arriving by public transport you’re best suited to arrive at Plaistow or Prince Regent stations. Footballers can choose between indoor and outdoor five-a-side pitches as well as a grass full size pitch. Cricketers can hire out the grass pitch during the summer for matches. The indoor sports arena can also be hired out for netball and basketball, while there is also a gym on site.
Newham council takes sport and leisure in the borough very seriously. The council looks after a number of stunning leisure centres that enable locals to get fit and remain in shape throughout the year. Newham residents have great access to swimming pools too.
