With summer coming up, that means the return of Wimbledon on July 3rd. While we wait, check out the 5 best Wimbledon shots from last years tournament. Featuring Andy Murray and Roger Federer. Enjoy!
Both players are no strangers to the spectacular, but the tweener drop-shot by Dustin Brown was special – even by his standards. Pundits were quick to award this the ‘shot of the championship’ so early in the tournament.
The point looked dead and buried, but Hingis managed the most remarkable return. It came after a great rally and led to her doubles partner Leander Paes to drop his racket and join the crowd in the applause of the shot.
Hitting a 147mph serve should normally guarantee you the point – but Andy Murray doesn’t do normal. Andy manages to return the record serve of the tournament, win the point and later go on and lift the Wimbledon trophy for the second time.
Classic Roger! Wimbledon has seen this shot from Roger constantly since he first appeared on the Wimbledon scene in 1999. The shot is struck with such power and precision, Marin Cillic came undone by the Federer backhand once again.
Similar to Dustin Brown, we know Nick Kyrgios is capable of the spectacular, and he also put in an early bid for ‘shot of the tournament’. A tweener lob winner that landed on the baseline.
