App release opens up greater access to sports facilities to provide winning solution to inactivity
MyLocalPitch, the leading search and booking portal for grassroots sports facilities, has released its inaugural Android app to make it even simpler for the nation to play sport and lead active lives.
MyLocalPitch is getting more people active using technology to help tackle some worrying NHS statistics which reveal 26% of adults are classified obese as well as one in five Year 6 children.
Furthermore, London Sport’s report found 38% of adults fail to meet the Chief Medical Officer’s physical activity guidelines.
This revolutionary app enables people to instantly book and access facilities on-the-move to put an end to the frustrations felt by millions across the country.
MyLocalPitch’s innovative aggregation platform gives venues a means to increase bookings by simplifying the process and in other cases bring facilities online for the first time.
Calendars with live availability answer the Football Foundation’s extensive report which found that 43% of organisers are frustrated with not being able to see which pitches are available when trying to book.
An iOS version launched in 2017, which received special recognition for boosting participation at the London Sport Awards and Sports Technology Awards.
The Android app release reflects that more and more users are turning to mobile and tablets to book sports venues, with the percentage increase from 56% to 62% year-on-year. Android usage has continued to grow and now accounts for a third of MyLocalPitch users.
There are listings for 19 different sports, including football, tennis, netball, badminton and squash – each can be paid for securely through the app.
