Well, you’re in luck. Because here at MyLocalPitch, we have an exclusive space at Clapham Common where you can join other Quidditch teams and play the wizarding sports game – in real life!
Even if you have no idea what Quidditch is, (a game from the films and books, it’s basically the magical version of football), why not make the most of the holidays by joining a unique game of broomstick scoring points and dodging Bludgers that everyone in the family can enjoy?
The basics of Quidditch are simple. The positions are; Chasers, (think Harry), who control the ‘Quaffle’, (ball), and try and get it through a hoop. Sound easy enough? It would be, except that there’s usually three chasers on the team, and all of them are trying do the same thing. There’s also Beaters, who are also the only players on the team that use bats. During the game, their task is to keep the Bludgers away from their team, aiming them towards the other team instead – WARNING, it can get pretty violent. Then there’s the keeper, with usually only one on each team. It’s their job to guard the goal posts to stop the other team’s Chasers from scoring (FYI, you’ll definitely be wearing more protection if you choose this position).
Then there’s the purpose of the game, which is also pretty easy to understand: whoever gets the most points, wins!
Finally, you need an open pitch. Preferably one outdoors, with enough space to hold your broom. Luckily for you, our Clapham Common space is available to be booked every day this week. So, check with family and friends for a date, and book your space through our online booking portal or through our app today!
