Michael Jordan is known as one of Basketballs best ever players if not the best, but we wanted to take a look at where it all began.

This week 30 years ago Michael Jordan played his first professional NBA game, it turned out it was the start to something special.

After graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Geography, Michael showed that he could perform academically as well as on the court. Michael Jordan was selected by Chicago Bulls in the 1st round (3rd pick, 3rd overall) of the 1984 NBA Draft. This turned out to be the best draft Chicago Bulls ever made as Michael Jordan went on to dominate the world of basketball and even had a go at minor league baseball for a season 1993.

Michael burst onto the court in his first season scoring 2,313 points in 82 games, 27 of which were from the 3 point mark. After a great first impression, Michaels second season was one to forget, playing only 18 games with just 7 starts he only managed 408 points but in true Michael Jordan fashion he bounced back and produced the best season (statistically) of his career. In this sensational come back he scored an incredible 3,041 points in 82 starts for the Bulls.

In 1998 after playing 35,887 minutes for the Chicago Bulls and tallying 29,277 points, Michael decided to hang up his sneakers and retire from professional basketball, this decision left both the basketball community and the entire world in disbelief.

What happened next was to cause a media frenzy and a huge boost for the sport, Michael shocked the world and decided to come out of retirement and join the Washington Wizards. Unfortunately though it was not all glory and wins, Michael struggled to adapt to a faster more powerful game and only managed 3015 points in 2 season, half of what he was making at the Chicago Bulls.

After these 2 forgettable seasons he decided to retire once more but this time for good, Michael will always be remembered in that red number 23 jersey and most certainly for his astounding dunks. During his incredible basketball career he played a huge 41,011 minutes whilst scoring 32,292 points, ensuring he goes down as the best basketball player that ever lived.
