10 Unlikely Celebrity Football Fans

A Twitter mix-up between Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, and a Wolverhampton Wanderers fan resulted in the Star Wars legend becoming a fan of the club.

With this bizarre football fan allegiance in mind, we thought we’d take a look into 10 of the unlikeliest celebrity football fans. Honestly, there’s no explanation for some of these.

Sylvester Stallone – Everton

Having first visited Goodison Park in 2007, Sylvester Stallone has been a dedicated Toffees fan since. He even filmed scenes at Goodison for the Oscar nominated Rocky sequel, Creed, in 2015.

Tom Hanks – Aston Villa

Add Tom Hanks to the list of Hollywood-based celebrity football fans. Since 2001, Hanks has been an avid fan of Aston Villa, even if the love affair with the Villains started because he likes the name so much…

Will Ferrell – Chelsea

The Anchorman star has been spotted at many a Chelsea game over the years. Here he is in the dressing room after Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Arsenal in 2016. I don’t think Pedro was expecting visitors.

Samuel L Jackson – Liverpool

After playing a Liverpool fan in The 51st State in 2000, Samuel L. Jackson pledged his allegiance to the Reds. Here are tweets from Liverpool’s 5-1 against Arsenal in 2014 to prove it.

Barack Obama – West Ham

Yep, you read that right. The Hammers have a famous fan in the form of former President, Barack Obama.

Apparently Obama’s sister lives in East London and supports West Ham and he became a fan after watching a game on TV during a UK visit.

Russell Crowe – Leeds

Russell Crowe’s been following Leeds since the glory days of the 70’s and was even in talks to buy the club the few years back. He’s got an eye for talent too…

Margot Robbie – Fulham

Margot Robbie is most known for her break-out role in The Wolf of Wall Street, but it turns out the Aussie’s also a big Fulham fan. Who knew?

Hugh Jackman – Norwich

Wolverine is a Norwich fan. Why? Because they play such entertaining football. Also, his mum’s from there.

Here he is talking about his love of the Canaries:

John Cena – Tottenham

WWE star, John Cena, is a Spurs man. He visited the Lane in 2008 on a press tour and was presented with a Spurs shirt by club legend Gerry Francis.

Turns out he was a lucky charm ahead of Tottenham’s 5-1 demolition of Arsenal in the League Cup semi-finals that year.

Tottenham’s relatively quiet Summer 2017 transfer window meant the photos had a resurgence…
